Spun out from the Clarksons Group in 2016 as Maritech Services, the company now operates independently with 250 staff across nine offices globally—London, Singapore, Houston, Dubai, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Poznań, and others. The platform handles fixture management, contract workflows, and carbon tracking for charterers, brokers, and shipowners. As of 2025, 800+ companies use Sea, with over 100,000 users on the platform. The company tracks activity at scale: 37,500 annualized fixtures, 900m tonnes of cargo traded, and roughly 200m tonnes of carbon tracked.

Services and capabilities

Sea's core offering splits into four product areas. Fixture Management lets users create, distribute, assess and negotiate freight orders in a single interface. Contract Management digitizes charterparty and recap workflows—the company reports 37,500 annualized fixtures handled through its charterparty and recap tools. Intelligence and Analytics surface real-time market data. Carbon Management measures, validates, and reports maritime emissions; the platform supports FuelEU Maritime compliance and integrates with EU ETS cost tracking.

The platform integrates with third-party systems: Veson's VMS (fixture data feeds), RightShip (safety scores and GHG ratings), Windward (sanctions data), and Pole Star Global's PurpleTRAC (real-time sanctions screening). Sea acquired Chinsay in October 2022 (a contract management tool for dry freight) and MarDocs from Marcura in April 2023, folding those capabilities into its core offering.

Notable work

Fortescue, one of the world's largest iron ore producers, uses Sea to streamline emission reporting and data workflows across its chartered vessel fleet. NORDEN, a major dry cargo operator, embedded Sea Contracts across Panamax, Supramax, and Handy size operations in March 2020. Two of the world's largest grain houses and two of the world's largest iron ore miners adopted Sea platforms. By December 2022, Sea Fix held 80% of the iron ore market's customer base. The company also works with leading oil, mining, and agricultural corporations.

Sea provides onboarding, training, and ongoing support through a dedicated Customer Support and Success Team with regional specialists in key shipping hubs. The company holds ISO 27001 certification (achieved October 2019) for information security. Peter Schrøder, CEO since April 2022, brings 20+ years in technology across telecoms, gaming, publishing, and shipping.
